Our goal in
the initial product design for RxPertise™ Consulting
Software was to create the premiere modular software tool
for performing Medication Regimen Reviews (MRRs), but one
that left the consultant pharmacist in complete control of
the data. We feel quite gratified that so many of our
clients believe we’ve achieved our goal. Since our initial
launch of RxPertise™, we’ve made many enhancements based
upon input from both prospective and existing clients.
Previously,
emphasis was always placed on crafting
RxPertise™
to be
a stand-alone MRR software.
The reasons for this have been well documented on our web
site the past several years. However, the advent of the
Medicare Modernization Act and future e-prescribing
regulations will dramatically reshape the long-term care
pharmacy industry, and we realize RxPertise™ needs to be
reshaped as well to remain the top choice of MRR software
for consultant pharmacists.
Managed Health Care, Inc. (MHA),
who
purchased the rights to RxPertise™,
is committed to supporting the evolution
of RxPertise™ in this rapidly changing environment.
With our latest version 7.5, we have
included pharmacy dispensing interface capabilities with six of
the major long-term care pharmacy systems, with the addition
of a Universal Pharmacy Dispensing interface. This
will allow RxPertise to interface with any and every
commercial and proprietary pharmacy system in use. These interface not only populates resident and
medication order information into the RxPertise database,
but also provides a valuable screening tool for identifying
those potentially unnecessary medication orders (as defined
by the 12/18/06 State Operations Manual). In addition,
we have incorporated a Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) Formulary
Checker, which will empower the consultant pharmacist in
verifying coverage for a resident before the recommendation
is made.
We are excited to have this
ongoing opportunity to better serve our clients in the long-term
care industry.
